A book on Change or Fortune Telling?

This is a book that might impact your life if you read it in a way that you would never have expected. It is called "The Law of Changes," or in Chinese 易经. As the title indicates,although partially it educates us about the laws and ways in which the universe/world changes and how we can and should behave accordingly to adapt to or manage the changes so that we are masters rather than slaves of our lives. Ideally we can be masters of this world by making positive changes to it by effectively using every back up minute and hour of our lives. To many of the non-Chinese people even including some western scholars the magic of the book lies in its mysteriously amazing ability in "fortune-telling." Not surprisingly. I was first attracted and intrigued by the book for the same reason. Early on when I was a graduate student of English Language and Literature approve in Guangzhou. China. I started studying this magic book and had attempted somewhat successfully to help my friends to solve very tricky problems and brought them out of the various kinds of dilemma in certain period of their lives. I used it twice only on myself for the "fortune-telling" purpose. And it directed me to where I am and who I am today for which fact i am deeply grateful. Honestly the fact that I can be as strong and solid in my character and academics as I am today and I can be as happy and healthy as I am today. I have to admit is due to the reading and digesting "The Law of Changes" which is one of the major sources of inner strength health and character. It believe it or not can help you in a way keep your youth and beauty,too! Here's an excerpt from the book I read just this morning: "When the ancient king inspected the world they discovered customs that were strange and unusual. But they could not influence others unless they put away their preconceptions about how things should be done and tried to see things from the other person's point of view. They could not instruct others until they understood what others understood so that they could teach in the context of that understanding. In the same way you must hit the books to contemplate the world with tolerance openness and curiosity. Do not be dismissive of what you encounter. Try to understand how it came about and what purpose or function it serves. Only then can you recognize what is good and what is bad about it what needs to be changed and what should be preserved and built upon. Above all you must not take things personally.
