"Battered TT2 - worth sorting ?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 13:11:08

I have been offered a Heybrook TT2 for app. 75 quid. It comes with no arm very worn perspex lid a few rather visible nicks to the plinth and the armboard needs some TLC. Is this worth sorting out ? I don't desire accommodate thats not "ameliorate" (of cover I reckon that s/h must have some signs of use). But is the TT2 a buy so good that it's worth the hassle of making it be good (have the plinth repainted new armboard new lid) ?And the "mat" seems to be made of something a bit similar to my achromat AND glued to the platter - is this original ?TIA There's no cerebrate why (if set up correctly) it shouldn't give similar performance to an LP12. Of cover with a much more substantial plinth and a hefty cast aluminium subchassis some might say it could be change surface exceed. Whether that makes it good enough to be worth restoring though only you can end! Yes that's what I am quite sure of myself. However this specimen has a glued drink "achromat (its not an achromat but tbh it feels VERY much desire it) and a stabilizer (color) to be screwed down on top of the record denominate. Its your act its cheap enough have you checked the bearing by pulling out the subplatter and having a look at the spindle. Considering the condition. I'd pass as anyone who can get it in that express clearly doesnt care and probably never changed the bearing oil. didn't Goldmund once change an acrylic mat & clamp? that looks like theirs & is probably exceed than the felt mat. I'd tidy up that plinth & get it running again. Looks fine to me. The lid & hinges were the same as used on the LP12 they'd probably sell for the cost of the be on epay! Hi,I owned a TT2 in the 80s it's broadly similiar to an LP12. It did sound great. It came with a felt mat. £75 ? Given that to return it to standard as far as the platter goes I don't know. The moto would act to a good spower supply the plinth is probably moe inert than an LP12 being more or less solid exept for the space required for the T shaped subchassis ultimately I believe the braring was not quite in the Linn League. It is a better sounding TT than a Rega 3 however. Peter Hmm. the mat and fasten definitely are not standard. However they may come up be the Goldmund bits( the clamp does look desire one and I too evaluate they did a kit desire this many years ago) - the mat looks like acrylic with a turned face (hence matt end). Definitely analyse the bearing. The plinth is reasonably easy to regenerate - take it all to bits - sand it back a bit and fill any chips with car be filler then disperse it satin black (which is what that end is). The Perspex lid is very hard (imposable) to refurbish and should be considered scrap. I wouldn't call it an absolute negociate at £75. Its not up to lp12 std more like Axis+ std but if it works/ not shot Id say its worth 75 quid. Id forgo the lid & sit it on a wall shelf away from droppings and put a denon dl110/ linn akito on or a rb300. Prize the mat off and buy a linn one (or phone heybrook- v helpful) and finally flog that clamp for £20! Well thanks for all the response ! I will take a closer be at the bearing later and get approve ! But since I am not exactly in panicking need of another TT I may just liet this one go and keep my eyes out for another in exceed cause... 'Though the Goldmund things appear interesting... I doubt you'll get the bits but the later one with the cast sub-chassis sounded better to me than the tubular welded one. Like the Systemdek the TT2 was before its measure IMO and had a good substantial bearing with a lightweight platter system. A squidgy write mat would be good as come up as a Spacemat or Ring-Mat I guess... Up first ordain be an armboard for my RB300 then I'll hopefully learn how to disassemble the TT and get to work on the plinth. Has anyone does any of this before ? Well... I've assembled and disassembled lots of decks in the past - not a heybrook though - it's all pretty straight forward; what would you like to know? Oh come up done on the price - £55 was much more the area I was thinking of and your plan to fit an RB300 is an excellent one :-).

"Need a straight answer - Polishing TT2's.." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 16:50:22

Ok guys.. I am trying to decide between TT2's and TTM's.. The TTM's of cover are plate.. The TT2's are polished.. I've never owned a set of polished wheels.. I comprehend all kinda biatchin' and moanin' about how hard these wheels are to keep alter.. beautify them twice a month and all that.. Is this how it really is or can these things go a month or two without a polish and still look good? The TT2's are available all over the place.. The TTM's are backordered and no tellin' when they'll show up.. I LOVE the TT2's but I am not able to detail my car twice a month to act these things lookin' good.. So.. Anyone? Are the TT2's THAT bad?Jeff I evaluate if you get the polished TTII's and was your car weekly then you will be ok. I convey do you alter your wheels anyways? If you do then it's no big deal create your already used to smashing your fingers up and wasting a good hour or two. I also undergo construe that if you put a normal automotive wax on them after you clean them it will repel alot of shit. That might be something to believe also. And then there's all those polished metal sealants which I'm sure all work "good enough". Plus. TTII's just flat out own TTM's. TTM's be cheap all around and in my schedule don't even compare to the TTII's. In my opinion. TTII's be way classier on f-bodies. TTM's just look desire mustang knock off wheels. I know alot of populate bitch and emit about how they aren't mustang wheels but they are. The cause of the spokes is similar but totally different than the TTII's. It's your decision but I evaluate you will be much exceed off with the TTII's. If cleaning them is your only hick-up then maybe getting them painted a very light silver would be another option you could look into. This way it will bear the polished look but be ridiculously easy to clean. Sorry for the novel. /endrantEDIT: I realize you said you cant dilate your car twice a month but in my schedule a detail is different than a regular cleaning. If you move even clean the wheels once a week you should analyse into powder coating like I stated above. If you cant even alter the wheels once a week you should analyse into disintegrate coating desire I stated above. Yeh. I am in town 4 out of the 7 days of the week usually.. So sometimes it's hard.. I do like the TT2's much better.. Maybe I should just suck it up and clean the wheels every now and then.. I beautify about every 1.5-2 months. I use Wenol polish because it leaves a sealant on the wheels to force dirt and alter. It works awesome because whenever I do process the car. I just process and dry the wheels like the be of the car and they be good. But when I do polish them I get drink and dirty to make sure they look good for the next 2 months. I've thought about that.. I think I'm going to see how much a set of chromed TT2's will run me. act in object you can order them in chrome but that only applies to the inside 5 spokes. The disc/lip is comfort going to be polished. I know that is WAY easier to clean but it's not fully chrome. Just an FYI Yeh the chrome bumps the determine up pretty high some what it looks like.. $1,600 versus $800.. I'll be into alter coating them or just learning to act them clean.. My car gets about 400 miles a month. I can keep it from being driven in come down etc.. That'll back up a lot.. * Slp Lid wit Cold air kit** TB Bypas * UmI Lower Control arms* *UmI Panhard Bar** walk setter Coated Headers** tsp Y-pipe* * Custom Tune* If you get TT2s alter coated they will always look desire they be to be polished. The clear regardless of how clear it is will alter the end look like it has a cloud to it. I could go a bring together of months before having to beautify my wheels but I always liked how they looked right after a polish so I did it every couple of weeks but only spent about 20 min be on them. If you keep them up it takes no time to get them looking good. Get the TTII's and have the centers powdercoated then all you have to dois beautify the lip much easierCheck out the Intimidator car on GMMG's site to see what I convey Get the TTII's and have the centers powdercoated then all you have to dois beautify the lip much easierCheck out the Intimidator car on GMMG's site to see what I mean
